About the programme
The aim of the two year programme is to equip you with the skills and experiences you’ll need to become a leading professional in RBS International.
You’ll be rewarded with a competitive salary of £30,090 and access to our flexible benefits package.
After a full induction, the programme is structured around a number of rotations around the business.
We’ll be supporting your career development throughout, but particularly during your last rotation we’ll focus on what roles you could step into next. This programme would be excellent preparation for a whole range of career paths, and at the end of the two years, we hope to see you join us in a permanent role.
Supporting you
We pride ourselves on the professional support we offer our graduates.
Before you start, you’ll be paired with a ‘buddy’ (a graduate already on the programme) who’ll be there to help you get settled, answer any questions, and share their experiences.
Your Graduate Coach will be there to provide support throughout the programme, and will work with you to create a Personal Capability Plan. Together, they’ll help you reflect on your progress, develop your career, and build your professional network.

If we offer you a role, one of the first things we’ll do is invite you to join our website for successful graduates – our onboarding portal. It’s a great way for us to communicate key messages and to make sure you’re all ready for your first day. We’ll pair you up with your buddy who’ll be able to answer your questions before starting and who’ll help you settle in. We’ll introduce you to your line manager before you start too, because we want to make sure you hit the ground running.

#Banking, #RBS is a programme we’ve designed to help you get ready for day one and to give you the key skills that’ll take you through your first six months. It’s a series of modules all our graduates take part in and it’ll help you understand how our entire business operates.
The training focuses on:
- How our business is structured
- Who your customers are going to be
- How we judge risk
- How we’re innovating and the external business climate
- Networking with other business areas
- Seeing the front to back and back to front of our whole operation
We kick off your training before your first day where you’ll complete some short, bite size activities that we’ll build on when you join. After you start, you’ll have the chance to take part in a series of learning modules to improve your understanding of our whole business, how we’re connected with each other and how we drive successful customer outcomes.
-
This will include meeting your buddy and support team, getting to know your fellow graduates, and taking part in an in-depth induction period, which will give you a broad understanding of how RBS works, our values, and our goals.
You’ll hear from leaders across our business and be brought up to speed on key topics like our customers, bank structure, entrepreneurship, risk and control, technology and digital innovation.
-
After the induction, you’ll begin your first rotation. You’ll be assigned a business area where you’ll be immersed in their work.
During your rotations, you’ll have time to discuss options with your support team and learn more about the areas that interest you.
The scale and diversity of RBS International means you’ll benefit from an excellent range of placement options. The overall aim of the rotation system is to give you exposure to the full breadth of work we do. So, wherever you go, variety is key.
-
During the programme you’ll take part in a community project with a team of fellow graduates. This involves linking up with a charitable organisation and developing and delivering a solution to support their work.
You’ll have the chance to participate in a fund raising competition with other teams, and present your project to a panel of senior managers. It’s a great opportunity to contribute to a valuable cause and put your entrepreneurial skills to the test!
About you
You’ll need to be on course for, or already have achieved, a 2:2 in your degree.
We’re a varied business, and you don’t need to be studying a particular subject to succeed.
But we will be looking out for people who can demonstrate:
- An inquisitive and independent mind-set, with the desire to bring new ideas
- Strong analytic and problem solving skills
- The ability to build great working relationships and give professional challenge
- A meticulous eye for detail and a good sense of judgement
- The ability to learn quickly and adapt to new challenges
