1 Hardman Boulevard is our nine storey office located in Spinningfields, a cosmopolitan metropolis right in the heart of Manchester.
Teams based at Hardman support all of our brands, businesses and functions. You’ll find everything here from telephony and transformation to HR and communications support. Our Manchester hub is a great place to develop your career, with lots of opportunities to progress. Regular Career Development Days are a great way to build your skills while learning about opportunities and possible career paths across the bank, and give the chance to hear how our business leaders built their own careers through panel discussions.
The facilities here are great too. If you want to grab a bite to eat without leaving the office, an on-site subsidised restaurant draws inspiration from cuisines all around the world. There’s also an Entrepreneurial Spark Hatchery located on our first floor – a free, collaborative office space for up-and-coming entrepreneurs on the Entrepreneurial Spark programme.
Dubbed Manchester’s answer to London’s Canary Wharf, Spinningfields is a vibrant district within the city. It’s the leading regional business quarter in the UK, and is home to over 165 world class financial and commercial services organisations.
It’s a fantastic place to work – a stroll around the area offers charming green spaces and an abundance of bars and restaurants. There are two gyms a stone’s throw away from the office making it easy to fit in a lunch time session, and if you like to shop, you’ll find Harvey Nic’s, Selfridges and the Arndale Shopping Centre around the corner too.
There’s more to Spinningfields than shops and fancy places to eat and drink, though. It’s firmly established as a venue for culture and entertainment, playing host to public art pieces and an outdoor cinema. It’s home to The John Rylands Library and People’s History Museum, and the office itself sits next to the River Irwell – a picturesque setting for your lunch on any day.
One of the best things about Manchester is how easy it is to get from A to B. There’s a free bus service that stops at key points around the city – including Victoria and Manchester Piccadilly train stations – that’ll drop you right outside the office. The Metrolink is a quick way to get around the city too.
If you’re commuting into Manchester, it’s still easy to get into and out of the city. There are several major rail stations nearby that offer direct services to Liverpool, Leeds, Newcastle and Sheffield, and they’re only a 10-20 minute walk from the office.
If you prefer to do your commute on two wheels, our office has bike racks for you to store your bike in. There’s also a car park close by, which offers parking at a reduced price to RBS workers.
“What I love about Manchester is that you don’t have to sacrifice a nice area for low-cost living - I could never have afforded the lifestyle I have here back at home. Plus you’re on the doorstep of the most amazing countryside, including the Dales, the Peaks and the Lakes. It’s the perfect mix of city and country.”Catherine Nangle, HR
