Bristol

Bristol is the largest city in the South West of England. Along with its rich heritage, it’s known for its laid-back, creative and friendly culture, as well as its vibrant nightlife, thriving art scene and prestigious university. Brunel’s Clifton Suspension Bridge, Temple Meads train station and the SS Britain are some of the iconic landmarks nearby, and as well as many independent cinemas and art houses, Bristol is home to the longest stretch of independent shops in the UK.

Scattered with satirical graffiti from resident artist and activist, Banksy, the city juxtaposes avant-garde pop culture with picturesque medieval buildings.

The River Avon, laced with an array of riverside bars, shops and eateries runs through the heart of the city, leading to its lively and famous harbour that hosts a variety of water sports and activities.

Although it boasts a variety of industries, Bristol is becoming a hot spot for creative and digital jobs. We were thrilled to recently open our digital hub, bringing together some of the bank’s best digital and technological capabilities and providing an innovative and creative space for an array of specialists including developers, solution designers and test analysts.

The area

Our Bristol office sits right on the water front, providing beautiful surroundings for a lovely walk or cycle into work. Its central location means there are a variety of things to do, and places to eat during your lunchbreak. Nearby cafés, bars, music venues and theatres make it easy for our teams to enjoy social activities together after work. Nearby cycling and running tracks also make it convenient to exercise before and after work.

Bristol is one of the warmest and sunniest cities in the UK, and with beautiful beaches and The Forest of Dean on its doorstep, there’s a great deal to do outside. Visitors flock to Bristol to experience its unique theatre and art scene as well and its many festivals. But as well as being an enticing tourist spot, Bristol is often considered one of the best places to live in Britain.

“Bristol is awesome! We get real summers with sunshine and there are all sorts of festivals. It’s also really easy to get around as the public transport is great but most people tend to walk and cycle everywhere. We’re right on the river and get to watch the rowers and houseboats, and there are loads of river bars. Everyone’s so friendly here and Bristol was recently ranked one of the best places to live in Britain as the house prices are still reasonably low and there are loads of good job opportunities. It really is a beautiful city”
