Role

The role-holder will implement and oversee the India COE Business Continuity Team and their day to day responsibilities covering NWM resilience  plan oversight, testing and reporting, global BCP plan challenge and assurance activities, training and awareness development and execution and global crisis management  governance and administration. The team will also be responsible for coordinating NWM specific incidents impacting India directly . This role-holder will  assist in developing and implementing the India remit as part of an enhanced resilience operating model  globally covering organisation, people, process and technology.

 

What The Business Does

Natwest Markets (NWM) is the wholesale banking division of the RBS Group with branches and trading activities located in numerous worldwide locations but principally the USA, Europe, and Asia.

The team provides services related to the management and control of transaction integrity and operational support front to back for all capital markets transactions globally.  With the interconnected nature of the business activities and technology estate teams will continue to manage a mix of transactions covering business activity undertaken by both Markets and Capital Resolution.

 

Your Responsibilities

  • Deliver and embed the NWM India Business Resilience operating model including resource implementation and training to develop a new centre of excellence (COE) responsible for :the production and overview of resilience reporting and analytics. Challenge and assurance of Global business continuity plans and practices, training and awareness activities to ensure all NWM personnel with a resilience role have the correct level of understanding of resilience requirements, Crisis Management Governance Administration, and the development of global enhanced processes and procedures
  • Assist the NWM Head of Business Resilience to deliver the annual strategy and objectives, implement the new India COE Business Continuity Team and assume oversight of resources, attend Business Resilience Management Team meetings to provide input and summary of COE activities and progress against objectives
  • Take ownership and responsibility for ensuring governance and reporting activities are enhanced and once implemented, completed to time and accurately. Develop and manage a schedule of training and awareness activities for NWM global personnel with resilience roles, oversee challenge and assurance activities partnering with the global business units across NWM and identify potential resilience vulnerabilities, producing risk assessment reporting results which will feed into governance reporting and drive resilience decision making
  • Coordinate with India /APAC  BC reps to ensure India specific BCP plans and being tested maintained and tested in line with resilience policy requirements. Develop and implement new global processes / SOPs to enhance the activities undertaken by the central NWM Business Resilience team, ensure escalation of potential resilience risk through defined mechanisms. Implement processes and oversee team to ensure governance and maintenance of the NWM global crisis management framework
  • Lead coordination of NWM India / APAC impacting incidents including facilitation of response calls (individual will be required to be on call 24/7/365)

 

The Skills That You Need

  • Require a Qualified Accountant/Regular MBA and/or Graduate degree with basic banking & accounting knowledge
  • Practical industry knowledge and operating experience of managing Business Resilience or Operational Risk environment
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management
  • Strong people management skills with experience of working under tight deadlines and managing multiple priorities
  • Strong communication skills – must be confident in presenting diverse subject matter and creating clear and concise materials for stakeholders
  • Experienced with interacting with senior level management stakeholders
  • Strong personal drive to challenge existing processes and seek efficiencies
  • Decision making ability within specified parameters as well as independent and collaborative decision making skills
  • Strong team player that co-ordinates activity to meet target timelines and goals
