What you'll do

This Graduate Programme will see you actively supporting and continuously improving the processes and tasks delivered by the wider Finance team. In doing so, you’ll be helping us to ensure an outstanding service to internal and external stakeholders. You’ll be supporting ongoing projects and change processes, and answering queries from stakeholders by carrying out the necessary ad-hoc analysis.

As well as this, you’ll be undertaking a selection of the following activities, depending on the team you join:

  • Executive Decision Support
  • Financial Planning and Analysis
  • Cost Analytics
  • Commercial Banking Business Intelligence
  • Private Banking
  • Bank-wide reporting and planning
  • Business control or Independent price verification
  • Financial or disclosures reporting
  • NatWest Markets franchise financial control and development
  • Trader control or transaction control
  • Operational risk measurement and management

The skills you'll need

We’re looking for people with a university degree in a finance related subject, fluent in both verbal and written English. Along with the drive and enthusiasm to learn quickly, you’ll be a team player with the ability to support with the development of the team.
You’ll have knowledge of balance sheet basics, profit & loss statements, cash, FX and derivative financial products. You’ll also have an awareness of financial reporting concepts, valuation models and methodologies, and SOX requirements.

As well as this, you’ll demonstrate:

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical and numeracy skills
  • A proactive approach, ready to investigate any issues that arise and take ownership
  • Astute attention to detail
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills

You’ll have an awareness of financial and management reporting concepts, valuation models and methodologies and SOX requirements. You’ll also ideally have experience working with other accounting, reporting or planning systems or tools, data warehouses. Experience of VBA or SQL basics would also be highly beneficial.

How we'll reward you

This is a two year programme aimed at fast-tracking your development through intense on the job training. This enables you to get an exceptional understanding of the bank’s operating model, gain a diversified experience and build a wide network across the structures of our organisation.

The experience and knowledge gained in the course of the two year programme is equivalent of four to five years of professional experience in respective fields. Having completed the programme you'll be perfectly equipped to apply for specialist and even senior specialist roles.
