The Business

We're looking for an Area Director to join us in Birmingham

  • You'll be leading a team in providing Employment Law and HR, and Health, Safety and Wellbeing consultancy and training solutions, supporting customers to invest in and grow their business

What you'll do

Leading a peripatetic team of up to 10 staff, you'll be responsible for managing the end to end process from business development to portfolio management, supporting businesses through the provision of customer focused solutions. This includes a range of Employment Law and HR, and Health, Safety & Wellbeing consultancy and training services.

You'll coach your team to deliver good customer outcomes and deliver on against their key objectives related to income and customer retention budgets, as well as make sure we have a robust risk culture in place. You'll be recognised as a Mentor representative both within and external to the bank, and a major part of your role will be building great relationships.

Additionally your role will involve:

  • Accountability for team income and retention budgets
  • Supporting tenders and bespoke quotes for new customer business acquisition
  • Coaching the delivery of good customer outcomes with identification of customer needs and provision of products and services appropriate to their needs
  • Ensuring that all information, advice and guidance provided to customers is high quality
  • Showing an enterprise-focused mind-set, network and role model collaboration for support of new business development 

The skills you'll need

We're looking for someone with significant leadership or management experience, as you'll be leading, developing and coaching a technically experienced team. You'll have strong commercial acumen, with proven experience in a commercial situation with stakeholders at senior management or director level.

You'll also bring:

  • Strong communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills, with a flair for building relationships both internally and externally
  • Planning and organising skills
  • The ability to perform well to deliver to deadlines
  • The ability to identify and lead business solutions and bespoke services offerings to customers and provide specific commercial price quotes
  • The confidence to liaise with regulatory bodies or legal counsel

A professional qualification, such as NVQ level 4, certificate, diploma or degree in Employment Law, SHE (Safety, Health and Environment) or regulatory consultancy would be beneficial, although isn't essential.
