Responsibilities

Purpose of the role:

To support the Margin Call process for MRA and MSFTA Clients. 

Overall Objective/Purpose

Collateral Management Team provides a dedicated service to reduce Credit Risk against customers across all products traded in the Markets businesses. 

There are two groups that make up the North America Collateral Management team. OTC derivatives group supporting all ISDA based relationships for RBS PLC as well as the RBS Securities group supporting primarily Repo and TBA clients.  The teams are responsible for the core operational margin call process and client relationship management.

Specific Responsibilities:

The individual will be required to establish close working relationships, at all levels, with external customers, Front Office and Support Staff to ensure that all key customers of RBS Securites Inc. receive a consistently high level of service.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Initiate, generate and confirm all Collateral moves for Repo, TBA and Sec Lending Clients.
  • Respond to enquiries from Clients on a timely and accurate basis.
  • Be a central point of contact for collateralised clients including helping to resolve any disputes.
  • Manage Client relationships and accounts effectively and efficiently.
  • Participate in reviews of collateral processes, ensuring confidence in the service provided.
  • Build strong relationships with other areas of the bank in all global offices.
  • Resolution of Nostro Breaks.

Trader Support & Customer Service

  • Work closely with other Operation functions and other infrastructure groups to support a ‘one team approach’. Seen as a centre of excellence and pivotal communicator.
  • Support and enhance external customer relationships
  • Detailed appreciation of different support requirements for Traders, and Salespersons.
  • Resolve all issues / conflicts in a timely and customer orientated manner

Communication

  • Clear and concise communication with all support teams to ensure the timely and efficient dissemination of information and the resolution of queries arising.
  • Ability to ask probing questions to gather information and resolve issues.
  • Where appropriate, ability to argue own position and reach a consensus in the light of differing views. 
  • Provide support to Operations in overseas offices as required
  • Excellent client service skills as significant interaction with external clients.
  • Knowledge of Operational functions is key as the individual will have to interact with Settlements, Funding, MO & Credit FO.

Deliverables / Objectives:

  • Ensure the business area conducts its activity in accordance with all relevant external regulators and RBS M&IB policies.
  • Provide effective Client support.
  • Prioritise client issues and resolve queries.
  • Follow Daily Checklists.
  • Resolve Cash & Bond Fails.
  • Manage Nostro Breaks
  • Ensure compliance with the regulatory and statutory requirements and RBS M&IB compliance policies and procedures affecting the business area.
  • Report any breaches of regulations to Compliance.
  • Ensure the business unit operates in accordance with stipulated risk management policies and procedures, covering market risk, credit risk and operational risk.
  • Ensure failures and shortcomings in policies and procedures are reported.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook should be intermediate/advanced.
  • Comprehension of collateral management processes.
  • Knowledge of collateral repo functions with proven ability to understand other product areas.
  • Proven relationship skills 

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of collateral agreements such as GMRA’s, ISDA/CSA, SLA’s, MSFTA’s & LSTA’s.
  • Knowledge of Algo, Calypso, Bloomberg
